How To Find Guitar Chords

There are two ways to use the software on this page to find guitar chords.

1. Use The Chord Finder

Tell the software what guitar chords you want to find, but using the Chord Finder selection. In order to find guitar chords using this technique, simply select the guitar chord name (A, A#, B, etc) and designation (Major, Minor, etc) from the drop down boxes. You can then select any of the Variations to see other places on the fretboard where you can play those guitar chords.

2. Use The Reverse Lookup

The other option (Reverse Lookup) is really useful if you’ve found a cool sounding guitar chord while you were playing, but you want to find out what that chord is called. In order to do this, simply select the Reverse Lookup option at the top of the page. Then you can click on the fingerboard on all the frets that you’re using. Don’t forget any open notes, or muted notes that may be part of the guitar chord! You can select open notes by clicking on the far left, at the nut of the fretboard. Two clicks will mute that string.
